Samsung 860 EVO is the world’s best-selling SATA SSD. Specially designed for mainstream PCs and laptops, using V-NAND technology and a reliable controller with a streamlined algorithm, this drive is a very fast SSD for everyday tasks.
The EVO series uses 3-bit flash memory per cell (TLC), but it reserves 2.3% of the NAND capacity for background operations and caching. This helps offset the poor write performance of the TLC memory.
Samsung has equipped the 860 series SSD with a new MJX controller that supports low-power DDR4 memory, so it probably has a new built-in memory controller. Most likely, the company managed to create an MJX controller based on a smaller lithography, which ensures lower power consumption, cooler operation and lower production costs.
Samsung approves that its fourth-generation 64-layer V-NAND consumes 30% more power than its 48-layer predecessor. Samsung has taken a big step forward by lowering the input voltage from 3.3 V to just 2.5 Volts. It also allowed to reduce the data access speed to 500 microseconds, which is 1.5 times faster than in the previous generation.
The 860 Series supports hardware encryption using Opal TCG and Microsoft eDrive.
The 860 EVO has excellent endurance and reliability. If there weren’t a new 860 Pro that provides double endurance rating, the 860 EVO would become the market leader in solid state drives with 150 TB endurance for recording for every 250 GB of used capacity. SSDs are still covered by the standard five-year warranty.
The third February order was made on computeruniverse on 02/15/2019, and shipped only on February 22. In our joint purchasing center, it was received after 11 days. The parcels reached the participants from Russia in 5-8 days. Total, from the moment of payment of the order to the receipt of goods by participants no more than a month passed. Four participants in the purchase ordered seven products for a total of 395 euros and with a delivery fee of € 36.49 (participants paid € 23.50 for the delivery, the remaining € 13 was compensated by our project). The order included a rather diverse range of products: AMD Ryzen 4 processor and MSI motherboard for this stone, Samsung SATA SSD for 250 Gb, WD Blue Desktop hard drive for 1Tb series, spacious USB flash drive from German manufacturer Hama and proprietary wireless charging for Samsung smartphones.
The fourth joint February order was not so various and included only two products: Samsung’s no longer budget SSD with M.2 specification for 500Gb and the gaming graphics card Sapphire Radeon Pulse RX VEGA 56 8GB for three hundred euros. The order was placed on February 20 and shipped within two days. As a result, both orders were received at our joint purchasing center at the same time.
List of the goods from computerunivse’s february orders:
We already reviewed the bestseller from Samsung on our website. Since the last order in September 2018, in which this SSD was placed, it had not dropped in price due to its crazy popularity. The disk is still in the segment for budget assemblies, but in 2018 there were many negative reviews about it on the Yandex.Market and Amazon, where customers complain about poor compatibility with AMD systems and a large number of defective unites released in summer of 2018 year.
The SSD uses TLC technology and is not the cheapest option among its rivals. For a long time, it was in demand due to its reliability, about it so much was said in the reviews.
According to Samsung itself, the drive is designed specifically for mainstream PCs and laptops, uses V-NAND technology and a robust controller with a streamlined algorithm. Manufactured in a wide range of form factors for best compatibility with most configurations. Read and write speeds are stable even under high loads and when using multi-tasking. The sequential write speed of the 860 EVO drive using intelligent writing technology (Intelligent TurboWrite) reaches 520 MB / s. The sequential read speed reaches 550 MB / s. TurboWrite buffer size for improvement file transfer speed increased from 12 GB to 78 GB.
The drive write resource (TBW) is up to 8 times higher than a similar characteristic of the previous drive model – 850 EVO SSD. The latest V-NAND technology provides a working life of up to 2400 TBW or a 5-year limited warranty.
Users note that the drive works at the maximum stated speed, as long as the cache capacity is sufficient, then the speed drops to about 300 Mb / S.
SSD HP M700 SSD SATA3 2.5 120GB [3DV72AA#ABB] is very budget SSD Disk, with performance quite enough for general tasks that the usual end user does.
It used new Dual-Core HP controller with four flash memory channels that support NANDXtend ECC for fast and stable performance. M700 supports write acceleration technology and SLC cache algorithm, with read and write speeds of up to 560 MB/s and 520 MB/s respectively. One of the main SSD’s features is Higher Order LDPC Error Correction for high speed parallel decoding and real time error correction to ensure data integrity and security. SSD has All Metal Body – heat dissipation and durability in a PC environment. It also has full compatibility with HPdst.exe (HP Software Pre-installation Environment).
