I’ll start off by saying if you’re a PC enthusiast on a budget the Pure Rock Slim variants are a fantastic value for the price. Unboxing the cooler you could just tell the quality of the product. You take the cooler out of the box and it just feels like you’re holding greatness.
As far as installation it comes with thermal paste pre-applied which is very convenient. The process of installing was a breeze apart from clipping the fan on. When I installed it my motherboard was already in my case.
I’m not sure if it’s just me and I have clumsy slow hands but it took me a good half hour to figure out how to get the CPU fan mounted. It definitely wasn’t smooth and felt forced. I watched some youtube videos and it appeared to be of no issue for them, although they were different variants of the be quiet! cooler. I ended up just pulling the clip back with force to get it tucked under the tower.
The cooler itself looks real good, it’s added a lot to the overall look of my build. It also lives up to it’s name, I can’t hear a thing.

Silent but hot (and not in a good way)

It’s good enough for stock speeds on most CPUs, but stay away if you want to keep things cool. It’s more or less useless if you want temps under 80° C under any real strain, such as converting audio or video files, rendering or editing pictures, or other such tasks involving using the might of a modern CPU.
Even at idle with an ambient at 21° C, both CPUs I tried with it ran at somewhere between 35° and 40° C. I eventually wound up pulling an old heat sink that I knew was good at cooling in order to confirm whether or not I’d done a poor job at installation. The cooler I used was a Zalman CPNS9500A and while I know that it’s a far more capable cooler, running at minimum fan speed with the same thermal compound, the cooler was still the next best thing to 30° C cooler while running a Prime95 torture test (Tmax was 50° to 55° C).
To its credit, it was completely silent. It was just utterly useless at cooling both a Ryzen 5 1600X and Ryzen 3 2200G. Unless the sound is too much for you, just use a stock cooler.
