Review ADATA SU650 3D NAND Solid State Drive
For first time solid state drive buyers who are ready to part away with slow mechanical drive performance; annoying noise and high temperature, ADATA SU650 offers an affordable path to SSD.
ADATA SU650 incorporates next-generation 3D NAND Flash while generates virtually no noise, offering capacities up to 480GB. It delivers read/write performance up to 520/450 MB/s that is several times faster than traditional hard disk drives.
ADATA SU650 features SLC caching and advanced error correction technologies to ensure optimized data performance and integrity. For those who want to breath new life to their PC, ADATA SU650 is an excellent choice.
3D NAND in an easy PC upgrade
With 3D NAND Flash, ADATA SU650 features higher efficiency and increased reliability with storage capacities ranging from 120GB to 480GB. Thanks to advanced technologies which provide excellent R/W performance and consumes less power compared to HDDs – making SU650 a perfect upgrade for laptop and desktop users.
Intelligent SLC caching algorithm allows NAND Flash memory to operate in single-level cell mode and boosts performance, sustains peak SU650 read/write speeds up to 520/450 MB per second for smoother and faster boot, file transfers, and downloads.
Advanced Error Correction Code
With support for ECC (error correction code) technology, ADATA SU650 can detect and fix errors to ensure data integrity and help to extend SSD lifespan. Its MTBF (mean time between failures) is up to 2 million hours, or 25% more than previous-generation 2D NAND SSDs.
Shock-tolerant, Silent Operation, and More Reliable
There’s no mechanical component inside SSDs, so they outperform traditional HDDs with higher resistance to shock, vibration (1500G/0.5ms) and extreme temperatures (0°C-70°C). They are also completely silent and consume very little power, all while better protecting your data.
Proprietary Software – SSD Toolbox and Migration Utility
Every SU650 purchase qualifies for free downloads of ADATA SSD Toolbox and Migration Utility. SSD Toolbox allows users to monitor and manage SU650 with drive status, wear level, and lifespan information. The Migration Utility is especially helpful for users making the move from HDD to SSD, as it is designed for simple and quick backup and migration of the contents of entire drives, including the operating system.
Designed for Notebooks and Desktops
Just 7mm thick, ADATA SU650 is an easy fit in ultrabooks. A 2.5mm spacer is bundled for use in 9.5mm drive bays, allowing compatibility with virtually every notebook, desktop, and console.
3-Year Limited Warranty for Peace-of-mind
Leveraging high quality 3D NAND Flash, ADATA SU650 is backed by a 3-year limited warranty for worry-free ownership experience.
Testing of ADATA SU650 3D NAND Solid State Drive
Futuremark PCMark 7. This benchmark includes a set of specialized tests of the disk subsystem, reproducing real situations in the operation of various applications. Each test is a kind of scenario — the trace of the work of a particular application, the real work pattern, when the application processes the data, then writes it to disk, reads another data that necessary for work, processes, terminating any operations with the medium, and then again begins reading / writing actions. The result of such testing is the overall performance index, calculated by a complicated formula, and specific speed index in megabytes per second.

Buyers were completely satisfied with the SSD and found the volume and performance optimal for installing the operating system and quickly launching the main programs. On computeruniverse, there are also cheaper versions of solid-state disks from manufacturers such as Intenso, Patriot, PNY, Team Group, but some of them have lower speed, and some are already obsolete. In addition, the ADATA brand gives customers more confidence than, for example, Intenso, which is almost equivalent to Noname. Buyers noted that the drive runs silently and quickly, unlike standard HDDs, it does not heat up during operation. However, this is typical of all solid-state drives, for which they are loved and chosen.
The main drawbacks noted by users in the reviews are cheap memory chips and a rather large percentage of defects.
Purchased 3, and 2 failed within several weeks. To upgrade the PCs and laptops in my department, I’ve purchased a total of about 75 SSDs of a half-dozen different brands, and Adata is the only dud brand in the bunch. Adata’s RMA process is a hassle, and YOU pay return shipping. The SU650 120gig is likely a defective model, and I think Adata knows it. As I write this, I’m cloning the last Adata to another brand SSD. It would take me 2 solid days to rebuild all the profiles on that PC should the drive fail.

it worked initially. I set it aside for a year and a half not needing it after all. Now that I do need it, it is dead. Good thing I didn’t use this, I would have lost all my family pictures, videos, documents etc. All I lost was the money i wasted on this fortunately.
