Customer reviews

Buyers noted the low weight of the tripod, the quality of materials and assembly, ease of use.

Mini tripod, according to buyer reviews is perfect for tourist trips, in cases where every 100 grams of portable weight matters.

Non-flexibility was noted as a disadvantage – the legs of the tripod can be fixed only in two positions. This also implies the requirements for the site for the installation of a tripod, which should be quite wide.

Useful little tripod
27 December 2017 [Verified Purchase]

First off, the operative word is ‘little’. This is a small, light, and insubstantial bit of kit. Especially by the standards of other offerings from Manfrotto. No mounting plate, just a screw for a standard bush, quite simple spring loaded push button for the level. It should never be able to hold a full sized DSLR. However, in the same fashion that a bee flies when it shouldn’t, it just works. And works well. It has limitations. Avoid long lenses at full extension. That sort of thing. But you can stick it in the odd corner of a gadget bag, or a pocket, and wander unencumbered until you need a longer shutter speed. You can food up the legs and use it as a handle, but to be honest I’ve tried this and it seems a bit false, like an added feature that only exists in an advertising man’s head. In it’s own little niche this is an excellent tripod. The type of thing you might take on a flight in your carry on, in a bike pannier or something similar. I like it.

Don’t be put off by negative reviews!
24 November 2018 [Verified Purchase]

I nearly didn’t buy this tripod…even though I have never had an issue with Manfrotto tripods before because of the negative comments about the locking of the ball head.

All I can say is these reviews have received faulty units…

As my images show I tried the head lock on some heavy Nikons and lenses and it held rock solid…the F2 and telephoto ways in just shy of 2kg and I felt sure I could have gone higher!

Maybe the QC has become a bit iffy as these units are made in China for Manfrotto but I read an article where the lock tension can be adjusted by removing the legs to expose the ball tension setting screws below.

I was also suitably impressed by the use of mixed materials with the legs operating beautifully….including the handy low angle height mode.

All in all this is a magnificent tripod…and iff you get a duff one either adjust it or simply return for one that has been set up perfectly…fortunately mine was….

Before that, i used model Manfrotto Pixi Mini MTPIXI-B Black.

The lock locking the head has type of push-button spring. It’s probably ideal for small cameras, but it was hardly possible to hold a large camera, and it was worth advancing the lens, and under the shifted center of gravity the head began to turn and peck. The new model is distinguished by the fact that the ball of the head is slightly larger and the fixation occurs by screwing. Well, also a useful bonus, two legs positions + their lengthening.

In short, the first model is enough for light mirrorless type fuji or sony a6xxx with light lenses.

With all the advantages in weight and compactness, there is a general disadvantage of mini-pods, this is what you are limited to by a low angle and when shooting in the field the grass will hinder, in the creek snag and water. Sometimes just not enough height to put straight into the stream.

Utterly disappointing.

Thank God I didn’t pay full price for this piece of junk. When it arrived I have to say I was surprised by the poor build quality of this tripod. It just screams cheap and nasty! I genuinely expected a manfrotto branded product to be much better than this. I can’t see it lasting long as the plastic used for 90% of it’s construction is thin, brittle and well….cheap. I will definitely not be putting anything heavier than a compact on it.

I can’t believe what I’ve just found while writing this review!! The tripod wasn’t sitting right and it was frustrating me as to why. Then I discovered a random screw has been trapped between the two halves of the casing on one of the legs!!! (See photos). This must have happened during assembly as it was seriously wedged in there. I’ve now taken the leg apart to liberate the random stow away but the plastic casing has taken a set, so now the rubber foot keeps dropping out. What a piece of c**p. I will be sending this back for a refund.

Utterly disappointing.
